There may be some limitations but we strive for ideal functional and aesthetic relationships. Treatment by other specialists is often indicated (such as periodontal therapy or restorative treatment). Combined orthodontic/orthognathic surgery treatment may be indicated with severe skeletal disharmonies. Invisalign Therapy is another option but it does have limitations. There are many possibilities for adult treatment. Examples of Dr. Turners Treatment| Problem: Class III with lateral and anterior open bite. Spacing and rotation of the teeth are also present. |
| | Solution: Surgical treatment was considered but the patient was treated with traditional orthodontic appliances with a 95% correction of the malocclusion. | |
| | | | Problem: Bilateral posterior crossbite and lateral open bite on both sides. |
| | Solution: Treatment involved expansion of the upper arch, alignment of the teeth, correction of the anterior-posterior discrepancy, and closure of the lateral open bite. | |
| | | | Problem: Unilateral Class II (left side) with a midline discrepancy and an anterior deep bite. Crowding of the anterior teeth was also present. |
| | Solution: Treatment involved the extraction of one tooth in the upper left quadrant to correct the midline discrepancy and the Class II relationship on the left side. Restorative treatment was necessary to improve the shape of the small upper lateral incisors. The patient presently wears a nightguard to help control a grinding habit and to retain her orthodontic correction. The thin gum tissue may require periodontal surgery in the future. | |
| | | | Problem: The patient's primary concern was the space between her upper front teeth and the anterior deep bite. |
| | Solution: The occlusion was improved and most of the spacing was closed. An anterior tooth size discrepancy necessitated leaving spaces between the upper lateral incisors and cuspids. These spaces may be closed later through restorative treatment as well as the replacement of missing teeth. | |
| | | | Problem: Upper and lower crowding with a bilateral posterior crossbile. Significant wear and breakdown of the teeth is also present. |
| | Solution: Due to the age of the patient, a surgically assisted expansion of the upper arch was performed followed by full orthodontic treatment. Restorative therapy then completed the treatment. | |
